Anarchy at the Abbey 2017 – F.A.Q.’s

 Is this a camping event or an indoor event?

We are happy to say that our site allows both camping and sleeping indoors.

This year, there are a total of 17 bedrooms. 12 are fully furnished and have electricity. Most of the bedrooms are large enough for two people to share comfortably.

Of the remaining five rooms, 1 is a large, private room which can have electricity if you bring an extension cord and the final four are a series of connecting rooms with space for two camp beds each.

We will be using a needs-based priority system to assign rooms. There is a small fee of €10 per room. To apply for a bedroom, please fill out the relevant section on the site registration form. We will contact everyone who has been assigned a bedroom one month before the event for their payment to secure the room.

You are welcome to contact Lady Rachel de Montfort to ask about where you are on the priority list at any time.

Everybody else will be sleeping either in the dormitory or camping in the gardens of the abbey. There will be camp beds available if you reserve one now.

If you intend to camp, please let us know that as well so that we can reserve your campsite.

 

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

All attendees must show a photo ID and sign a waiver before they may enter the premises.

Only paid SCA members with the proper equipment may participate in heavy fighting.

 

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There is a train station 1.2 kilometers from the site, the Gare de Marche-les-dames

There are more than enough parking spaces on the abbey grounds.

 What can/can’t I bring to the event?

You will need enough medieval clothing to wear from when you arrive to when you leave. There is a grace period of 2 hours after arrival before you must be dressed like everyone else.

You will need to bring your own dishes to eat with, the more medieval the better!

You will need to have a way to hide your modern conveniences. Telephones and cameras are allowed but only if you make efforts to keep them hidden or to use them only in designated areas.

You will want to bring some food or drink to share and barter, chocolates are practically a substitute currency in our organization.

You will need bedding and toiletries for the entire weekend.

You will need flameless candles for roaming the abbey as the only room where candles are allowed is the feast hall.

PHOTOGRAPHY WITHIN THE ABBEY IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED

(thieves have recently been looking for photos of the inside of the abbey in order to know where to break in)

 Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your ticket is transferrable so long as the organisers are told more than 48 hours before the event. The original ticket holder must provide the replacement with a signed message stating that they give their approval for the transfer.

 

Can I update my registration information?

Of course! Just let us know what you need to change!

 

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

So long as the name on your ID matches the name we have on file you’ll be fine.

 

What is the refund policy?

Cancellations must be made more than a month in advance for a full refund and more than two weeks in advance for a 50% refund.

 

The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?
